LMC premieres new documentary on December 10

Come join us on Friday, December 10th for LMC Night at Dreamgirls, as we premiere our new documentary "Making the Dream", which chronicles the behind-the-scenes story of Duke Ellington's all-school collaborative production of "Dreamgirls". The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., includes a performance by the R Street Collective, our acclaimed spoken word ensemble.

Please support the work of our remarkable students and faculty with a tax-deductible contribution! With a 98% graduation rate, our school has proven that intensive arts education can make the difference between success and failure. Your support is critical.

You can also purchase tickets for the December 10th performance of "Dreamgirls", which begins at 7:30 p.m. If you are not able to join us that night, please purchase tickets for another "Dreamgirls" performance between Dec. 2 and 18 — you will not want to miss this incredible show!

The LMC department at Duke Ellington offers the highest-quality instruction for DC’s young writers and filmmakers, available only at one of the nation’s leading public high schools for the arts. We teach our students to think critically, tell stories with honesty, and bring clarity to the issues that face today’s society.

Your support is critical to these efforts. Funding for public schools and the arts is constantly under attack as test scores take precedence over creativity and knowledge. Yet research clearly shows that academically at-risk students who are artistically talented make greater educational gains in an arts-integrated curriculum than their peers who do not have the same classroom experience. With a 98% on-time graduation rate, we know at Duke Ellington that an arts curriculum does make a difference.
